I'm sure most people would agree with me that the main reason we vote someone into Gov't is for regulation purposes first of all. But we expect "common sense" type regulations. Regulations that would make sense to both the private industry operators and the consumers. Regulations that are always mindful of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
That's the way it was mean't to be, I'm sure. But that's not the way it has become. I mean, back in the days before Special Interest groups, the Gov't was selected to represent the affairs of the common people. When this was done, they decided that those elected officials couldn't run things on shoelaces, so they established a menial tax in order to pay for the operational expenses. The Gov't organized itself and began regulating the private sector in a way that protected the basic rights of all parties concerned.
A regular military was established, Mail delivery was begun, Necessary things like that.
It worked well, except that isn't the way it's working today. Over the years, Special interest groups began lobbying the elected officials and soon regulations were being put in place that would benefit a certain organization but in turn be detrimental to the consumer without due consideration.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the most prime example of this, but it doesn't stop there by any means.
When talking to friends in the know, the medical industry suffers from the same manifestation of regulations as well. Without focusing on any specific instance, there is a problem with old regulations colliding with new ones that have been put into play. Instead of abolishing the old one at the same time to avoid further confusion. Whether this is intentional by the Special Interest Regulators or not is another question. or a matter of the same people demanding the regulating, ignoring the fact that the old regulation along with the new one creates a conflict of interest. Along with that they just may not give a darn if it does or doesn't throw a monkey wrench in the works. It's not their money.
It could be both, couldn't it? I think we can assume that it is!!
What I'm told it's doing, is creating a tremendous delay while some other regulator or Judge stops to figure it out. In turn it creates an enormous amount of financial waste.
Now the tax system gets toyed with so the Gov't, instead of re-regulating to solve the problem and saving further unnecessary expenditures, raises the taxes to meet the added expense. Problem solved, right? WRONG!!! They have neglected to address the difference between the old regulation and the new one, so they follow the line of least resistance by raising the taxes to meet the additional waste of the Taxpayer's money. The Special Interest groups proffer, the consumers pay!
Anyway, with the regulations in place to suit the desires of the Special Interest Groups, the Gov't doesn't care how it affects the consumer. They're ignoring the very principle used to place them in office in the first place.
The medical profession is affected tremendously by this, because now we have the budget cutting process where the Medical profession as a whole, is restricted from charging the same money that kept them wanting to treat Medicare and Medicaid patients now, to not wanting to accept them due to the decreased allowable payment. At this moment, this is happening.
All because the regulations are mishandled by the Gov't in it's refusal to recognize the waste and take the time to correct it in the proper manner.
This affects the consumer in the back pocket simply because the politicians have lost track of the reason they were put in office, which of course is to protect the Consumer, not to submit to the Special Interest groups!!
The reason our Gov't was established in the first place was to protect the General Electorate in various ways, instead they're satisfying the needs of Special Interest groups who have the money to support them if they want to survive the next election. Again, it's all about money.
Pass a regulation against Lobbyists for Special Interests, and while you're at it, get Tort Reform working as well. Malpractice suits have been long out of hand and will be until a reasonable limit is placed on the amount paid out in malpractice suits.
The politicians are appeasing the obstructionists, because of the lure of money.
Wow!!! I just woke up from a nightmare!! Just sayin'.
