THERE'S A SAYING, " IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL". I DISAGREE WHEN IT COMES TO POLITICS.

I'm sure it came straight out of the Marxist/Socialist playbook. The "Midwest Academy" in Chicago Illinois.(Look it up on the net) But the saying wasn't meant for them. To the contrary, it was only meant for people who don't agree with their philosophy! There is no bigger violator of that rule than the present leader of this once great country. (Barack Hussein Obama was on the board of this Marxist Academy.)
I agree with the general purpose of the famous saying, in the sense that it helps to avoid unnecessary confrontation in general conversation. It avoids embarrassment when it doesn't need to be. It's courtesy in avoiding unnecessary arguments. But confrontation is deeply necessary when the subject involves changing your country to what is considered the wrong direction.
During an impromptu  meeting between the Congress and President Lincoln, One of the Congressmen asked him why he was saying little to enhance the "off-record" discussion. He paused for a moment and replied," It's better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt." No doubt he considered it an idle subject at the time.
There are many famous one-liners like that, and they certainly come in handy at times, but in political events and discussions, courtesy needs to always be mixed with the truth. That's difficult to do when there is misrepresentation of the truth or only part of it. Such as "Seminar" Socialism. (I borrowed that expression from Rush Limbaugh) They've all learned from the same academies.
At this very critical time, when the Marxist/Socialists are attempting to hijack our nation, the misled voters who would re-elect him wish, or request that you remain silent about it in general discussion. It's a very important part of their ploy. Silence the opposition! Nobody hurls more insults, more lies and more angry outbursts of frustration than Barack Hussein Obama, and the Main Media never brings mention of it. Yet they're only too quick to point out the same faults of the more sincere, God believing  opposition.
Sadly enough, when it comes to concerns that affect me or the friends around me, I'll never be silent, and will continue my own loud contentions to anyone who presents them. It's called freedom of speech.     Just sayin'.
