THE PASSING OF A GREAT AMERICAN HERO.....LYNN DAVIS "BUCK" COMPTON"

He was born Dec. 31st, 1921 in Los Angeles, Ca.
As a young athlete in the U. of California, he played football in the Rose bowl and in baseball in an overlap with Jackie Robinson.
I read about the passing of "Buck" Compton, one of the main participants during WW2 in the invasion that led to the defeat of Nazi-ism starting with the Invasion of Normandy, right straight through the Battle of the Bulge, and eventually into the City of Berlin. He was not only a real, live 101st Airborne paratrooper, but an advisor to the main actors who portrayed him and others in the real life television series of, "Band of Brothers". In fact, on his 90th birthday, he was visited by 4 of the 5 main actors in the series at his home in Burlington, Wa. Buck was an outspoken advocate of the Constitution and the Republican Party. Perhaps that's why Tom Hanks excused himself from being present due to a "busy" schedule. Maybe not, but Hanks is an outspoken supporter of Socialism.
The other 4 were present at his 90th birthday because they admired him so much due to the war campaigns he participated in.
He was attached to E company, more famously known as "Easy" Company, a part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He received a Silver Star, a purple heart and a Presidential Unit Citation along with his fellow warriors for their heroism during the Battle of the bulge and the Battle of Bastogne.
After his distinguished service in WW2, he joined the Los Angeles Police Dept. and pursued a career in law to eventually become The Chief Deputy District Attorney that convicted Sirhan Sirhan in the slaying of Robert F. Kennedy.
Mr. Compton was appointed to the California Courts of Appeal as an Associate Justice by Governor Ronald Reagan in 1970. He retired in the early 1990's.
All of this I had no prior knowledge of, until after I heard his regular 3 hr. broadcasts on 1340 Radio in Skagit County. It is partially because I write my blogs the way I do, He was a mentor to me concerning politics because his reasoning, determination and conclusions were much the same as mine. I admired the man for his forthright sincerity.
I couldn't start to compare with his literary knowledge or prowess. I'm only learning, but he's a great act to follow.
I'm so sorry that he had to leave us knowing the highest office in our land is under siege by such deception and corruption. I suspect he only had to wait one more year to die in peace for his efforts.
Rather than pray for him, I would ask him to pray for me.     Just sayin'.
