TO EVERY ONE WHO WONDERS WHAT THE "FISCAL CLIFF" REALLY IS;

     The President is attempting to "scare" us again. First with "Fiscal Cliff" which has now turned to "Sequester".
     In a past life I worked for the Dept. of Highways in Canada and since it was with the Engineering branch, each year we had to produce a budget request for money anticipated to be used in the following year. Figuring it out was very simple and probably is similar to the method used today. An estimate on every future job scheduled for the next year was calculated and submitted for approval. But it was commonly known that in order to make it look like they were seriously concerned about the taxpayer's money was properly spent. here's how it worked; We knew that when we submitted our budget request to the "Powers to be", that they had no idea whatsoever what our true costs would be. But one thing was for certain, we made sure that every dollar we had for the current year was spent prior to the end of the year. Otherwise the first thing they would do when they received the next year's request was to subtract that leftover money from next year's budget request. This of course would indicate that we had not carefully determined how much money was needed for the current year, or it wouldn't have been miscalculated. We couldn't let that happen, for Pete's sake, so as the end of the year came, we always had places where the extra money could be spent on "needed" road improvements, thus using up that extra money. One time we built a highway into a proposed ski area that wasn't even in the drafting stage yet.
     Okay! Now as they also did every year, they always knocked an additional 10 or 15 % off the requested budget request, just to make it look like they were being "frugal." After all, they had to make it look like they were painstakingly doing their job to see their wasn't any waste of the taxpayer's dollar.
     Of course, we knew this was a habit of theirs, so we always inflated the budget request to cover at least that amount, inevitably receiving the amount we really wanted as an end result. In fact we always ended up with at least 5% more than was anticipated. It was an endless cycle year after year.
     So it goes with the Obama Administration. He is certainly aware of the tricks.
     Knowing if they submitted the amount they really wanted for the future, including all Subsidies, Special grants, earmarks and Stimulus money they may need to further their plans to drive our debt even higher, they doubled the amount in order to negotiate and get the amount they truly could get by with if they were to just be a little less spendy.
     Smart move, huh? Then, as they're doing right now, they cut the far overestimated amount by 5%, leaving them with still way more money than they need, claiming they have cut spending by 5% for the next Fiscal year.
      Sequestering simply means sticking to the budget of the current year without increases until they can agree on the budget for the next year.
      The problem is, the Obama Administration has deliberately refused to present a budget that's reasonable or acceptable to the congress as a whole for the past 4 years. Handling it this way, they were able to spend the Country into oblivion with Barack Obama at the helm.
      Ultimately though, they think they have fooled us into thinking they have truly cut their intended spending. Well, they have fooled a lot of us who haven't taken the time to understand what they're doing., and to anyone who is lucky enough to have work so they could pay taxes in order to keep the Gov't working.
      Lo' and behold, it's working enough to have gotten them re-elected.
     Well, I can only hope that this blog will reach a few eyes and ears that you will understand there really is no "Fiscal Cliff" or Starving layoffs in the coming year due to a "Sequester", because there really is no budget cuts that are going to take place as our lying, deceiving President is threatening.
     You can take my word for what I'm telling you, one heck of a lot more than you can believe the "Horse paduky' he's been feeding you. Just sayin'.
